After a year and a half, HD Expo came back with a bang! The energy felt throughout the tradeshow floor was infectious as the booth designs were colorful and seminars engaging. A whirlwind experience, let me take you on the journey.
Positioned in a prime location, the HotelFurniture booth design was a showstopper! Located next to one of the speaker series stages, we met some great people and had even more amazing conversations with them about upcoming projects, the industry landscape, and more. Major shoutout to Marketing Director, Ashleigh Baker, for leading the way.

While there, I had the opportunity to attend several thought-provoking speaker series. At a time when the industry is working to rebound from the effects of Covid-19, the seminars ranged from the business of design to projects and places that inspire us and conversations around brand identity. Here are some of my key takeaways:
With the idea of traveling still being a scary thought for many, people are traveling less and being more intentional with their trips. As designers, our job is to now create more memorable and engaging experiences for them.
Know the 'why' behind the design. With Covid-19 impacting project budgets and supply chain, being more strategic in your design decisions and selections is even more imperative. Having a full understanding of your client's needs and design goals is the key to not only defining your design narrative but the first step in cultivating a personal experience.
Lastly, stay creative and agile!! Throughout all of the sessions, there was a sense of candor and honesty. And the truth is that in these last 18 months, the industry just had to be creative! Creative in new business strategies, service offerings, solutions, and work environments. One thing Covid-19 showed our industry is that there is always a solution. So stay creative.

And lastly, the design trends. The vendors at HD Expo did not disappoint when it came to showcasing their latest and greatest designs. From bold graphic artwork to the emphasis on natural textures and organic shapes, there was something there for everyone! These were some of my favorites from the show.
Well, that’s a wrap for this year’s HD Expo 2021. Great job to my HF Team! ‘Til the next trade show.
